Auto transmission swap help

So I got a used trans to swap into due to my old one taking a shit.. I'm attempting the swap entirely on my own.

I was just wondering if there were ANY type of write-ups anywhere what so ever that may help me along the way. Checked the vfaq with not much success.

Im about 10 hours into the job and dont even have the axles out of the old trans yet . Im shooting blind here.

Also, anything I should do to the new trans to prep it before I swap it in. Replace any seals or anything as a precaution for down the road issues? Any other info would be great, like I said, I'm shooting completely blind right now.

The usual being is to drop the pan, clean/replace the filter and the magnets. Then the reverse assembly with new gasket and torque all the bolts down evenly with specs of 8 ft lbs...

Im sorry im completely noob to trannys but I got new filter and pan gaskets, but would reverse assembly be the end clutch cover or something completely different?

Reverse assembly is just a term used to mean put back in the reverse order that they were taken apart. Getting the trans out should be fairly straightforward. Also remember to unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate before even attempting to unbolt the trans from the block. There is not enough room to slide the trans out with the torque converter still attached to the engine.

Ah makes sense haha... As far as the torque converter goes, I'm assuming theres like an access panel to unbolt it, is it on the trans side or on the motor side and where about would I look for it?

it's a small plate near the oil pan. i think 3 or 4 small bolts hold it on.

Do I need to disconnect the drive shaft from the rear transfer case and then it just pulls out? I gave up on the axles for now and decided to start on the drive shaft.
