Ok, I pulled the transmission from my 1990 Laser to replace the clutch. After doing so I reinstalled the transmission, but the the shift arms on the top of the transmission were moved. after this the arm seemed to be locked into place. I re-installled linkage hoping I would cure problem, but the transmission seems to be locked into a gear.

Anyone have any pointers??

Thanks

Did you swap the shifter cables by accident?

No, Never disassembled linkage bracket. everything is lined up. the transmission itself seems locked up? I physically moved the shift arms on the trans. they moved just like they were shifting, then it locked up?

Hmmmm, odd. Hopefully someone can chime in on this. I have never had a problem like this.
