I have a 91 eclipse gst with the drivers side halfshaft stub stuck in the transmission ( Transmission is now removed from car. I have tried both recommended methods for removal. Pry bar with a swift kick and sledge hammer and large screw driver with vice grips plus I used a huge wrench for added torque on the vicegrips. Had no luck. I notice if I look through the otherside of the diff I can see part of the shaft and clip. Would it be better to try pressing it through with a screwdriver or to use a 4 ton puller? Also, the control arm bolts are seized. I got the nut removed but the bolt won't budge! I tried heating the bolt with propane and map gas and am having trouble getting the bolt to glow red. I have applied heat continuously for over 20 minutes and can only get the lock washer to glow.

since the transmission is already out try using two prybars (one on each side) this should help it come out strait and maybe have someone else pry the other side. give it a couple love taps with a hammer to help break some of the rust and let it soak in some pb blaster if that doesn't work. I've never had a problem getting them out of the transmission its usually the spindle thats the problem.
if you already have the nut off you should be able to tap the bolt out with a hammer or at least get it started assuming I'm thinking of the bolt your talking about. if its rusted or seized your going to need a acetylene torch to heat it up. map gas and propane won't get it hot enough.
if all else fails start going to the gym :thumb:
