yea..driving down i-75 today in 96 gst, downshifted from 5th to 4th(i think), engine jumps up to bout 10,000 and bogs out...car stalls...it will start and everything, but won't go into gear, get it to go into reverse, makes a large grinding noise...anyone know if trans is shot or maybe just the clutch..thanx

Sounds more like you went 5th to 2nd dude. I would have to say you have a problem. Check your tranny fluid first, you might also want to change it. I did that once to but I didnt go from 5th to 2nd mine went 4th to 1st. I didnt seem to have a problem at that time but like three days later my tranny exploded. (not saying that will happen to you) My syncros were shot though. If I were you I would be more concerned about the condition of those main rods.
