Hello all,

I am converting my car from a gs-t to a gsx so I bought a complete swap. When I installed the transmission in my car I kept hearing grinding noises so I decided to remove the transmission and see what was going on. I removed the transmission pump and found that the gear was damaged. I was able to buy one half of the pump but haven't been able to find the other half. I wanted to know if I can still use the other half because it has a little bit of pitting? Also I have the transmission pump diagram and when I took it apart I didn't see #5 the oil seal and #6 the snap ring.

I dont think you want to do this twice, have you checked rock auto for the other component? also call a high quality local transmission shop and see if they can source one. You could also try and find another transmission for parts from a wrecking yard/ engine importer, supplier etc..

Snap ring may have broken off and ended up in pieces along with the seal and may be elsewhere in the transmission, you could chance it and put it all back together and may not have any problems but the missing parts and debri may rear their ugly head somewhere else in the trans along with the metal shavings from both housings, you are there anyways so a tear down and inspection might be a good idea.
