I've posted other forums leading to this discussion but now I'm making it official. When I first put the tranny in everything lined up except for the bolt above the CV axle it was left with a space between the motor and trans about this big ] [.prying with a crow bar against the inside didn't produce any results, the gap stayed the same.I may have found the problem and just want confirmation.when I was putting in the clutch I failed to use a clutch alignment tool to line the clutch up because I didn't have one and I have never had to buy one so I didn't know how much they coast and just used My eyes.Bad mistake right.I'm wanting to know if the clutch not lined up could be the problem even with the transmission as close as it is to being lined up.If its not the clutch I dont know whats keeping it from going.

p.s. I know own a 1g clutch alignment tool LOL,$2.00 sometimes I amaze myself at how stupid I can be!

sometimes if theres any crud on the dowl pins, it will be hard for the tranny to line up. When i put mine in, it didnt just fall right agianst the block. i got it up on the pins, and got the bolts hand started. Then i went around the housing a little at a time and and tighting them in and it drew up. IMO i would pull it back out and use the tool, dont know if it is whats holding you up, but damn, why put it all back together and then realize that you need to do that and have to pull it all out again!

thanks, holding off on putting it back in because I found some shaft play in the transmission but I did line the clutch up.getting the transmission checked in the morning.

Problem fixed......I hope!well just to let everyone know I figured it out,I failed to notice that the clutch that I used from the donor car was a N/T clutch and that I needed a turbo clutch to make everything line up properly but I failed to notice in time and ended up striping the 12mm trany bolt trying to pull the tranny and motor together so I had to put a helicoil in it......newb...yes yes I know LOL,anyways I ordered the right clutch and it will be here tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone that tried to help me in this ordeal!I'll put everything back together and hopefully have a running, driving DSM :)

use the clutch alingnment tool!the eye is not that good, you will never get it together without it unless your really lucky.

you dont really need a clutch aligning tool or luck you just have to know what you are doing. Im an RnR at a tranmission shop and i pull transmissions every single day and sometimes i dont use an alignment tool and i have no problems

thats cool you do clutches and trans everyday,i do engines everyday but we are here to help or asist people that are not so lucky so lets help people and not badger one another:thumb:
