bolts not lining up. Transmission issues

ok. thanks for taking a look at my thread im new to the forums. I did some research on here just couldnt find the info i was looking for. now here's my dilema.

My transmission went out on me, i took it to a mechanic's shop that my buddy recommended to me that does good work for a decent price. ok so now he finds me a transmission and a new transfer case(cause my TC was leaking) with about 45,000 miles on it. he said his parts guy got it from a GSX in japan. ok Everything seemed great until he tried to direct bolt it up to my car and the bolts dont line up.
now he wants to just swap in the japan transmission internals into my original transmission.


1)should i let him do this?

2)Could this be a gsx transmission off of a 1g eclipse or are the japan dsm transmissions really different?

3)should i pay him for the TC since it doesnt leak like mine or are they different from 1 g or 2g ?

4)Im thinking about just gettting a built trans from Jack transmissions and just have the mechanic direct bolt it up.

5)Any recomended dsm shops around my area besides Road Race Engineering that do good work for a decent price?

I can help you a little. Changing the internals on a transmission can be done with sucess but You have to be good at it. But if your going to do all that work why not just get a rebuitl unit with a good warranty. In other words if your gonna keep it spend the money and do it right. I have installed used trannys but in most cases low miles = degraded old parts from sitting around. Find a quality rebuilder in your area and have them rebuild your unit.

Yeah I agree your about to switch around a big ass mess. Ive built 2 5 speeds my self. It anit no cake walk I sent my 2nd and third gear to jack on booth tranys and welded the diff and trashed a couple parts. But if you have not had one of these apart I suggest finding another.

thank you guys for all your input i just called up jacks transmissions and ordered the Stage 2.3 HD' AWD Value build with a rebuilt tranfer case as well. now within the next couple of days the mechanic will be putting it on. hopefully everything goes well and thanks again for all your guys time and input on my thread.
