Hey guys, here is my current issue, after getting my block back from the machine shop, I was bolting on all the necessities (front case, timing components, mounts) and went to bolt the oil pan, note this is the stock pan that came off my car during initial teardown and it did not line up. The holes were slightly off, off enough to not allow the oil pan bolts to go in. I then noticed on the flywheel side of the block that the pan wasnt sitting flush and noticed quickly that the main studs were the culprit, protruding enough to prevent the pan from sitting fluch. So my question is this normal or a common issue? I remember seeing a post similar to this on another forum I believe, and I believe their solution was lay the pan on the block and use a dead blow hammmer to dent the pan. Personally I would like to have some input on the subject before I go pounding on my oil pan and against my main studs, so any input would be greatly appreciated guys

Thanks!:hellyeah:

I will take some here shortly and upload them, if my phone will allow me, but it's most definately due to the main studs. I just dont know if this is a common issue and another thing I thought of would be if every oil pan is exactly the same.

I will get pics soon if I can.

I just replaced my oil pan gasket and didn't have the problem you are having. This is the same pan you took off at the start of your build?

Not to insult your intelligence. But is the big side of the oil pan sitting on the oil pickup tube side? I made this slight error the other day...... just saying, it might be backwards.......

Hope for the best buddy!

If your main cap is like mine, then you may have put the main bolts in the wrong places. There are 8 bolts if i remember right. There are 2 that have smaller heads than the rest. Did you get those in right? Did you ever have your main cap off?

Alright I'm going to try and upload a few pics. I'm also using arp main studs (sorry to forget that minor dtail.) This is the same stock pan that came off this block before going to the machine shop, the oil pan is fitted in the correct orientation but something just is not right.

Alright my phone is a piece and will not allow me to add any attachments to this link, it does this with some forums I do not know why, and I understand this makes troubleshooting this very difficult without a visual.:ohdamn:

If anyone would be interested in texting me I can send pics easily through that method, just PM me for my number or PM me yours thanks guys.
