Transmission help

I have a 99 with manual transmission. I was driving it to work the other day and I heard a loud bump sound followed by a clunk sound. The car drove normal and i was only a few miles from work so i continued on. When i got to work I smelled burning tranny fluid so I looked under neath and saw it dripping tranny fluid alot. I towed the car home and drained the remaining fluid, it was still red and did not have any metal in it. I refilled it and while on jacks in the garage i started it up and got it up to third gear and turned it off. I went back under the car and noticed it leaking from the bell housing area. I plan on pulling the transmission next weekend to perform repairs, but was wondering what everyone thought it might be.

Red fluid in a manual? Awd or no? Sounds like an input or output shaft seal. Easy job

Yeah it has the atf +4 fluid in it. Sorry its a non turbo front wheel drive. For either of those seals you have to pull the transmission correct?

well i doubt you have an output shaft seal if its a non turbo model . thats awd.

I appreciate the help guys, going to pull it out tomorrow and see what damage is done, hopefully just a bad seal.
