Transmission Help

I recently acquired a 95 AWD TSi Talon that from what I have been told has a blown transmission. I am new to the DSM market and in need of some advice.
This is what I have so far.
Transmission is a 23 spline
Was told it won’t go into 1st gear.
Transmission is out of the car.
If it will not go into 1st then I would expect a syncro issue or could it be something else? I was told the car was making around 400whp when the trans showed issues. What are the stock horsepower limits on a stock transmission, what are some options and who makes upgraded internals for the transmission? Anything I should know about this trans?

Gonna have to tear it down and have it rebuild look at tre, shep, jacks are some shops. They make upgraded internals and a complete list of rebuild options. It could be anything but your not going to know until you have it tore down and inspected once thats done then you can look at the shops and the stages for your transmission. Anything else to know, not sure about the question its a transmission and things will eventually break, ask yourself what are your goals for the car, once thats done you can make a choice of your stage transmission that will work with your budget.

ShepTrans will hook you up. Taking a tranny apart could be a disaster if you have never done it before. It's one of those things if you don't know, its probably better to let someone else take care of it.

I have pulled apart a few different transmissons before, just nothing DSM. I will have a DSM seasoned shop look at it. Thank you.

If it won't go into first gear, the problem could be the bearing on the bellhousing side of the intermediate shaft. Apparently it is a problem on the 2g trans. It happened to my 97 and I am in the process of fixing it. It is not that hard.
