transmission help asap

i was looking threw old threads and didnt see anything so here it is and if its been covered before sorry. i just bought another gsx its still a 90' but the tranny grinds in 3rd i was told that a 91 or 92 doesnt match up that you have to mod some stuff if this is true what do you have to do thank you. also i dont have the tranny to my old gsx anymore so i cant swap =(

Well, It's sorta true... The 1991-94 trans will work but the output shaft to the transfer case has a different number of splines on it (23 whereas a '90's is 22). You either need to mate it to the proper transfer case or swap out the output shaft.

so if i just grab the same t case to mate with the 91-94 tranny that will work right sorry for the dumb question sorry for the stupid question transmissions are no where near my area haha

Ideally, Yes... But the cables are not needed, if you're in a pinch you can make the '90's cables work with some crafty adjustments.

The 1991-94 Gear Selecter Bracket (the one that can be removed w/2 bolts).
The Bracket that holds the cables to the trans.
