hey guys i got a 99 eclipse gst 5spd i recently change the clutch but after 3 or 4 days of driving i started to hear a grinding noise, the noise only happens when im slowing down above 2500 rpms it will do it on every gear but if i accelerate it goes away, also if i park the car and accelerate i could hear the noise but the more rpms the louder it gets but it goes away when i hit the clutch, i thought of the throw out bearing but seems to early to go bad. i put a regular after market clutch on it that came with new throw out bearing now i did not changed the pilot bearing the one on the flywheel, any suggestions my friend told me it could be the tranny but i will like to try something else before doing that...

Wrong place to post but to answer your question. What kind of after market clutch? If you press the clutch in and the noise stops. It's mostly your throw out bearing. Save your self the headache and use the OEM throw out bearing. The inside that rides on the input shaft is some kind of plastic material and won't scratch you're shaft.

sorry about the late respond and i am new at this, but i took the tranny out this past weekend and put a oem clutch and trow out bearing but noise is still there tranny is shifting good very smooth but the noise it makes happens over 2500 rpms and above doesn't meter if the car is running or park and it goes away ones i hit the clutch. i was thinking that could be the shaft out put bearing. any suggestions????

if you replaced the TOB the culprit could be a bad axle or motor mount causing the axles to bind up and groan.
but the fact you replaced the TOB and it still makes the noise when you let the clutch out sitting still leads me to belive your TOB failed shortly after install for one reason or another. i had one fail within 100 miles on a previous car of mine, it happens.

I apologize for posting a year later on this thread but i have aproblem. Im currently doing a build for 600whp. before i took car apart it had a hard time going into 1st gear and grinded pretty bad. Could this be a synchro? any info will be much appriciated. Also what is the hp rating for a 1st gen talon.

Yes, but it could be because of incorrectly adjusted clutch, wrong type of gear oil and possibly incorrect step height on fly wheel.
