trans swap question

im puttin a new trans in my car and was wandering what was the best way to get the splines back into the transfercase ... i was thinkin just put the bolts in and let em suck it on b ut figured ide ask before i went back to work.... i still have the trans out so i have the option of puttin it on and then puttin the tranny in
