I want to run a FP Big-28 eventually and I was wondering if I would need to rebuild my transmission for that. I have a stock 5-speed with redline gear oil.

. The stock transmission should hold up just fine if youre only wanting 300-350, even if you went 400-450 they are fairly reliable. Depends on how hard you drive it, launch alot, and other factors. But you should be fine.
Good adviceSlip the clutch more. It will save your center diff. Which will explode at even 300whp if abused. Slipping and preloading the drivetrain will take the shock away from teh center diff.
If you at 350whp, Id say get a welded or 4 spidar no question, if you want reliability; even with proper lauching techniques employed.
and I like the added piece of mind for the price. I broke 2 3/4s this summer
