Tranny Question

Just recently purchased a 90 TSi and I'm having a little bit of an issue with first gear. When I accelerate from a stop and slowly ease off the clutch, the car shudders. The motor isn't hesitating, and it only does it in first gear. I don't have any problems shifting into gears or downshifting. Any ideas on what may be causing this? The motor was rebuilt around 10k miles ago and a new clutch was put in while the motor was out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Any info on what type/brand of clutch and flywheel it is?
Did the car sit for a long time before you bought it?

Wonder if the flywheel needs a lathe job...

its got an XTD Stage 4 pressure plate (2300 lbs.), oem clutch disc, and stock flywheel

..prob eating up the flywheel up pretty bad then with that much pressure. Get you a flywheel to match the clutch so you can eliminate these 1st gear shudder startouts...

Stock flywheels are basically made from mild steel.
