OK so i was driving home from my g/f's house in a hurry, yes i was driving hard...ill admit it. So i noticed that if my hand was not on the shifter a grinding/whining type noise came from the transmission area. Does anybody know what is causing that noise and what i should do?

same thing used to happen to me.. its your throw out bearing or release bearing..

Is the whine loud in 1st gear then gets quiet in the others? If so, you have a bad intermediate shaft end bearing in the trans. I would suggest that you stop driving it or you can completely destroy the trans.
