Tranny noise

Hey, i'm new to this forum. I have a 2g eclipse turbo (125,000 miles) that i recently purchased for a decent price. While driving, i hear a slight "whooo" sound only while accelerating. No matter the gear, i hear this noise. NO NOISE while revving AND not in gear.

I took it to the local transmission shop and we test drove the car. The clutch is good, supposedly replace at 110,000 miles. The guy from the shop says it "load bearing" in the transmission that need to be replaced. I'm wondering if this is correct and he quoted be a price of $700 including parts and labor.

Has anyone had this type of problem?
Is this a good price??

Yeah, I had that. Right before my transmission blew up.

Probably a shaft bearing. About the right mileage for it. Get it checked out ASAP, else you may end up like I did (having to buy an entire new trans because little metal bits destroyed everything.)

I think I have the same problem! It makes this droaning noise over 35mph on stays the same tone until I slow down under 30mph or so. Right now the tranny and motor are out of the car (timingbelt broke!). Where exactly is the bearing located. Is it called a "load bearing"? I need to get this looked at before the it all gets put back in the car this week. Anything I can tell while its out? Thanks ya'll

The guy from the transmission shop says its a "load bearing". If anyone knows what this is, let me know.
