Ok so i have a 95talon TSI 6bolted I was driving down the road today and the shifter got way loose i cant move it from 4th gear. :banghead: It doesnt seem likes its the clutch it will still drive i just cant get it out of 4th it seems like it might be the shifter linkage or shifting forks or something it didnt make any weird noises at all. I havent got the chance to tear into anything yet any ideas?

If the shifter got "way loose" I would first check the shifter assembly pivot point. This weld likes to wear or break over time causing a broken shifter assembly. To do this, pull the driver or passenger-side plastics between the center console and the seats, then remove the shift knob, the cup holder and the phillips screws, along with the radio trim plate and the shift knob. Then remove the center counsel assembly and thoroughly inspect the shifter assembly and shifter cable assembly.

Second, inspect the shifter cable assembly on top of transmission inspecting the linkage connections as well as the retaining clips and bracketry hardware.

If all of those things are in good shape, then I would go towards other damaged parts inside the transmission.

What year is the transmission? Is this your original 95 AWD transmission?
