I have a strange issue with my tranny fluid level. When it is cold the fluid is reading at the hot level. When it is hot it reads the same. I don't understand it at all. I aleady have shift problems as it is. I would like to know has anyone else had this issue with their fluid levels?

The reading can be difficult and usually gives an inaccurate level if its not checked properly. Take the car out for a good drive until engine is warm, up to operating temp 5+ miles should be good. Park the car on a level straight driveway. Dont shut off car. Cycle the shifter slowly through P-R-N-D-2-L thenback up to 2-D and stop at Neutral. Lift up the parking brake. All this is while the motor is idiling. Wait about a minute and pull the transmission dipstick, wipe, then down tube and pull it out. The fluid should be at HOT hashmark on the dipstick. If its not there, you can add ATF+4 or mitsu spII fluid in small increments until the fluid is reading properly. Make sure transmission is not overfilled above hot mark or it will cause erratic shifts and spill fluid out. I hope this helps.

I drained all the fluid out but I really wanted to drain the torque converter as well to get all that old fluid out. I replaced the filter and gasket as well. The shifting has improved a lot but the thing I was really pissed about is the fact I had Mitsubishi do all that a little over a year ago. The gasket leaked again and I did it and NO leaks this far from the pan gasket.
