So the car been running from time to time now without
much tranny fluid ever since the axle was replaced.
i heard that instead of tranny fluid you can put in motor oil
in it too? Kinda forgot which motoroil,
but if it is true, which one is better for the tranny? thnks

put tranny fluid in it. dont use motor oil. i believe its too thin and dont think the thick stuff would even cut it. if your cars a stickshift, use redline mt-90 or some snycromesh. im going to put mt-90 in my gst. its thick good oil.

Find an Amsoil dealer like myself near you and get the good tranny fluid

Or go to Autozone/Oreilly/Advanced/NAPA and pick up some Pennzoil Synchromesh..

Edit: If you're running an auto, go get some ATF+4, same places.

Slap whoever told you to put engine oil in your transmission. It is too thin and would not lubricate/cool gears like it should. Are you auto or manual? If auto, replace with automatic transmission fluid specified in owners manual or repair manual. If you are manual replace with synchromesh, mt-90, or 80-w90 transmission fluid.

Also do you hear any funny noises in the transmission? Once you replace the fluid, take it for a drive and listen for any whining in gears. Depending on how long you ran/drove it, you may have burnt gears. Just a heads up.

Thanks all for the help.
