i dunno what to do looiking to maybe sell my 90 eclipse gsx 5sp had in the shop looking to put in the new tranny i bought come to find out that the 2 of the bolt that hold up the trany and broken i dunno what to do should i lood for a new block and just replace it or just sell the car please let me know i need help need money for a car :confused:
 
To better help you with your problem, hit edit, and reread your sentences and make your question clear. I'm not sure what exactly the problem is. If two of the bolts broke, it is not a very complex job to replace them.
 
Tapping it or putting a helicoil in it will most likely fix your problem. but you cant tighten down to much on the helicoil.
 
At worst it seems that if you may have to seperate the trans. and block. Which too bolts are broken?
I would then Dremel with a narrow cutting wheel a notch for a flat head screw driver. And then simply back out the broken bolts or studs.
 
I understand where you guys are coming from but what my mechanic is lettin me is that the are broking clean off like there's notting left inside the of the block so theres nothing to drill out he's tell me i would need a whole new motor
 
if there's nothing left inside the block, then there should be holes, and then you can just put new bolts in :)

if they snapped, then there should be 1/2 of the bolt still left in the block, and even if they're flush against the block, you can still get them out. the shop probably doesn't want to drop the transmission again to fix the problem.

what I would do is, if the shop installed the tranny, take it back to them and ask them why they snapped 2 of the transmission mounting bolts and ask them very nicely to fix it. there's only 2 ways that you can snap those bolts... putting them in or taking them out.

you don't need a new block, i've snapped plenty of bolts in my day, and not once had I ever needed to scrap the parts.

I have the same problem. I just got a block. But the top tranny bolt to the block is broken in there. But the previous owner i guess tryed drilling out. and only wore down one side of the stud left in there. So my questions is can this still be fixed? Can someone PM with what type of tools i can try to remove whats left in there and then re thread. am guessing thats called helicoil. But yea PM with what u guys think will work for me. I am takin this to a machine shop to replace pistons. Should i have them do it for me

Well you have a couple options here. Im not sure of the proper name but I have heard people refer to these tools as ''quick outs'' or ''easy outs'' but they are like reverse drill bits, and what you do is drill a hole in the broken bolt (with a regular drill bit) and use this ''reverse drill bit'' in your drill to pull the broken bolt out.

Then, if necessary you can tap new threads and put in a new bolt, Just depends if the original threads are damaged.

Also, a helicoil is kinda like a sleeve or a bolt within a bolt, for example if the threads in the block are damaged you can drill and tap a bigger set of threads, put in the helicoil and use the original bolt or an oem replacement inside the helicoil.
