Very basic question. Machine shop just called and asked me for a gasket to use with my torque plate. I'm going to be using a felpro mls on this engine but I'm not terribly confident I feel comfortable reusing the gasket after being torqued down for machine work. I have a cometic mls at home I don't plan to ever use so I considered giving the shop that one to use for machining rather than the felpro due to its high price. Anyone with any machine work experience feel like a different gasket will distort the block differently? Thanks.

No reason to worry. As long as it's the same compressed thickness your good. I use the Mitsu MLS head gasket when I get my blocked torque plate bored and honed, I also use the Felpro Permatorque MLS when I actually build them. No issues.

Okay so a new issue has arisen. I just measured my cometic gasket and it is 85.5mm. As a result the machine shop cannot use the gasket because I am going .040 over. So I guess the new question is would it be better to reuse my felpro mls after being torqued to final clamping force from the torque plate and exposed to the machining process or to purchase another mls to give them just for machining? Thanks.
