matt

i hear their oil pumps and head gaskets pretty much blow.

that came from more than one person. i was thinking about saving some money on my upcomming rebuild to go topline, but i got warned not to. as for gaskets i hear ajusa and oem are great. and im not really trusting much other than oem for my rebuild otherwise. (oil pump, water pump, timing, ect). the only thing im going to change is berrings and motor mounts.

i meant better priced then oem. and ya i want to use all oem but thats really high priced and im going cevlite bareings. eagle rods, wisco 8:3:1 .40 over, arp head and rod bolts, cromatic mls head gasket, all 6 bolt i havent decided on the head yet.

if you're going pretty much all out on the block, why not go with oem? you know they can handle it.

if not go to the JAM website. they have an ajusa FULL premium gasket set for 150. better than topline and i've never heard any complaints about them as i have with topline.

I use the Topline oil pump, and gasket kit in my 1G RWD. Pump never failed in 2005, and had numerous 700 plus WHP dyno runs, and 35-40 passes at the track. Nathan here makes 650 WHP and runs Topline pump as well.

99% of the people who have problems with these pumps should not be assembling a motor in the first place.

As far as water pump, we typically use TRW or a like brand.

Gasket kits from Topline work awesome, with the exception of the HG if your looking for more than 400 WHP... unless you o-ring the head, then the Topline HG will hold up just fine.

All of this of course, is my opinion, yours may vary!

i agree about the motor builders. i can't tell you all how many people i've had tell me to do my rebuild myself. that assembling a motor isn't hard. all i can ever think is, yeah, putting the pieces in the way they go may not be hard, but doing it right is why im letting my mechanic do it for me.

i might rethink the topline oil pump now. because everyone i heard it was crappy from did their build themselves. and it would save me like. . . 100ish bucks.

I got a Topline front case from SlowBoyRacing and I must say it was a nice piece. I've had no problems at all. I assume, as said before, that it was the builders fault.

P.S. The case was shipped in 3 days, amazingly fast. Thanks SBR. :thumb:

-The only thing I used Topline on my 6-bolt rebuild was the front-case. The oil pump did sieze on us, but it ended up being our fault. No damage was done, and all is great now. I used OEM gaskets for it, though. My oil pressure is amazing now. Other than that, everything else is OE as far as maintence.

I used a topline front case on my Talon without any problems. If you do go topline, use your oem oil pump sprocket nut and be sure to prime the pump, I used vasoline. When I build up my 4g63 for my colt, I will probably go oem, unless this topline case really holds up well :thumb:
