Im just had my motor put in but, now the guy says it is dumping too much fuel into the cylnders. Now the guy that built my motor says it is the injector pulse width. Mitsubishi says that can not be tuned. The motor is 7 bolt, forged internals, built head 2.0 . What can I do? I need my car back.

It will not start they told me it was too much fuel. The person who built the motor engine dynoed it before he shipped it out he told me to check the grounds does that sound right?

First things first did you label all components as you removed the motor. A rookie mistake is just leaving something unpluged an it happens a lot. If there was no problem with fuel before you removed the motor than I would double check everything you did.

Pull each plug wire and make sure they are all firing. If you getting spark than you know its not that. Let us know if your getting spark.

Also if the motor is not grounded right than you shouldnt get power. How does he know its dumping fuel??

Spark plugs are covered in fuel, cleaned and reinstalled, still coated in fuel.

The shop says it has spark, but i dont know. I get the car back tomarrow, so I will do my own run down then.

Where exactly should I be looking for my grounds? I know the trannie has one but where are the other ones?

There is one on the back of the back-center of the intake manifold going to the firewall, one going to the starter and one for the battery itself. I replaced the intake manifold ground strap with a battery ground strap and ran it directly to the negative battery terminal.

OK, I got the car back today. The people that did my swap had no bussiness touching my car. They had all the vac line everywhere, the one that pulls vac from the bov on the mani was connected to the wg. We fixed those they had things ass backward. There are still a few electrical connections that are still unhooked too. As far as spark goes (I cant think right now) when your facing the motor from the front, the plug furthest from the cam gears has no spark but the other three have a healthy spark. What do I do from here?

Try swapping the wire that dosen't have spark with a wire that has good spark, if that cylinder has spark then the wire is bad. Also go to the guy that worked on your car and give him a swift kick in the ass. Lets hope the new cylinders didn't get washed down from excess fuel :thumb:

He's fine, he didnt wash the cylinder walls. He never got it started or anything. Ive seen a lady drive for 2 months with a cylinder not firing in a 3000gt and when they went to rebuild it, the block was still fine.

Thanks I will try that. I was told if one of the coils is bad then the whole thing is.

Well the coil for plugs 1 and 4 has no spark. Going to that replace tomarrow. I still have a plug disconnected it is a brownish red color with yellow, black and black/w white stripe wires out of it. It is a female plug also.(sorry no camera).

Where is the plug at?

The great thing about at least the 1g harnesses is it is pretty hard to screw up the plugs. You can usually stretch it around to where it will reach and find the other plug it connects with. A few connections by the firewall are hard to see but feel around and you should be able to find it.

FYI, the factory manual (CD or book) has a diagram in the electrical section which shows where all the connectors are and labels them. It might help you find where this goes.

The plug is tied into the ones coming off of the negitive terminal of the battery, and it cant go far, only about a foot of slack.

As far as the spark is concerned, I will check that tomarrow(stuck at work). If the transistor is bad does that mean the whole unit is?

Yes it does. You can pick up another one cheap off eBay or here.

Actually, if it is the same 7 pin one as the later model 1g's I have one lying around.

Thanks man I will check that tonight. If that transistor was bad would i still be getting spark out of #2 and 3?
