too much brake pedal play

hey guys well i just finished changing my brake pads... i bled the brake lines and i started the car...OH SNAP i didnt pump the brake before i started the car now when i started driving the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and i have to pump the brake 3 or 4 times before it starts grabbing... can anyone help me with my problem

you shouldn't have to bleed the brakes if your just changing pads. Sounds like you didn't bleed them properly, how did u bleed them?

Check your brake fluid level. If it went too low when you bled the brakes, chances are you have air in the lines.

one of my friends told me i had to pump the brake before i turned the car on and i didnt do that.... i have major air in my lines... i unbolted the brake line and let it drip out a bit checking the brake fluid level.... i added more once i was done.... i pumped the brake pedal and it sounded like it was sucking it up good... i had to put a whole another bottle of brake fluid... i turned the car on and it still has a lot of play.... i literally have to pump it a few times to start grabbing while im driving..

You dont crack the brake line to bleed the brakes. There is a little bleeder valve on the caliper, have a freind pump the breaks a few times and then push the pedal as hard as he can and hold it down. As he holds down the pedal, crack the bleeder valve open and close it while your freind keeps pressure on the pedal, some air and fluid should spit out of the valve. Repeat the process until just fluid and no air come out. That will fix your problem

which is the bleeder valve? does it look like a plug/nipple sticking out of the caliper? and how would i open it? the car should be off while the other person is pressing on the brake?

Yes its the nipple towards the back of the caliper. Should be a 8 mm wrench. The car should be running while bleeding.
