Just like the title says, if there is ever such a thing I guess.

I purchased my third GST...

Automatic but with 278,56* miles...

I mean that didn't scare me from buying it. It's a good well maintained car. Now main question is, is this way too many miles for a 4G63?

Or do you guys believe that this car must have gone through a rebuild in the past or even a swap? Any way to check?

The car has no previous history the kid I bought it from had little knowledge on the DSM. You would think this would of been rebuild by now or atleast swapped? Or am I over thinking this and a 4G63 can truly handle the miles especially the T25 turbo it has?

All I can tell is the engine is healthy...it needs a tune up, can't really confirm the internals being good, no ticking no knocking no leaking and the turbo is healthy spooling nicely, BOv working alternator fault new with battery new and power steering pump as well.

First thing to do is timing belt...

I'm a 1990 w/196K miles.

Had a '91 Base Eclipse with the 1.8L with 211K miles before I sold that one...still held oil for 1200 miles before it needed a quart.

If it doesn't use oil like going out of style, starts great with no lifter tick while in operation, do the belt and happy driving .. oh, and do the water pump while you're at it along with new pulleys.

Heard stories of DSM's going well over 300K without any problems.

Change the tranny fluid with either AMSOIL universal tranny fluid, ATF+4 or SPII fluid - all are synth fluids and necessary and needed with the Mitsu tranny.

If it has that many miles and still runs good, I'd call it that it just barely got broken in and running smooth.

Good luck - DSM
