Too low to tow?

I searched and only found something about an AWD 91 talon, but I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 98 GS-T and lowered it stupidly. A 2x4 will barely fit under it. The thing is, it's a DSM and not being able to tow it isn't something I'll be able to get by on. It's stranded at my school, is there anything that can tow it, or do I need to take off my tires and raise it at my school?(will be embarassing, but oh well, if it's necessary) Thanks

I don't think mine was ever that low - thats stupid. But anyways, I had to take my front bumper off, have a flat-bed come with some wooden boards set in place so we could roll up on the truck. I never thought I was the only one that removed a bumper to get something on a truck though... surely I'm not the only one anyways. :)

Yeah, towing is out of the question. Mine was pretty low last year and when I had tranny problems, it had to be trailored around. And with a car that low, most trailors wont work either. And dont even consider a car dolly - it's not gonna work. If you cant find a trailor, there's only one other thing I can think of. You can pull the front bumper off and wrap a tow strap around the front of the crossmember (the part that runs front-to-back under the engine bay and has a tranny mount bolted to it) and you can pull it that way with a pickup truck. Not the safest or most legal way, but it would work (i know from experience). :thumb:

Stupid? Only I can say that. It looks nice, but I'm at the point where I don't give a sh*t about my car anymore, I had big plans for it, now my plans are getting it totalled or stolen and never recovered. I had a honda, and now I own this...(no offense, maybe I'm just very unlucky) I'll just have to raise it. Thanks anyways for the input.

mine was too low to tow. so what i had to do was with my car jack lift each tire and raise the coils up individualy. i then was able to tow it. on my next car iam just going to take the front bumper off before i ever tow it though.

I'm about to head out and try that. They're adjustable coilovers and hopefully since they're apex'i they'll go up to no drop like they say....ya never know with generics, but we'll see with these...

It's pouring outside and my windows are rolled down cause they wouldn't roll up...just got a new battery and alternator too...guess I am lucky.

It makes a clicking sound right above the radio. It would do the same thing before it completely died, it'd click, then the check engine light would come on, and then go away. The idle would go from 700 to 1400, and just keep reving back and forth, almost die then it'd idle normal, the windows take about 10 seconds after the car has been started before they'll respond, the turn signals just stopped working, but with hazards they still work... I don't know much about cars and even less about DSMs, so before anyone flames, I just wanted to put out the disclaimer.

Lift up to the fender so you can get a floor jack under it then two it and when you take it off the truck do it reverse. And if it is a flat bed do the same thing but use 2x4's to ramp under the tires and drive it up there. You can tow anything it just depends on how good the driver is, but most will nto two them if they are to low.

I had mine towed the other day and it has roughly a 2" drop. The tow truck driver and I pushed it in a half circle and then back into the shoulder. Luckily it was midnight and there was little traffic. Anyway, usually the back end is a little higher so the tow truck lifted my rear and then hooked up the dollies on my front. A little unorthodox but it saved me the $75 for having to call a flatbed. Usually if a 2x4 fits under there, the brackets for the dolly will fit under the front wheels.

when you replaced your alt. did it arc on anything? these cars tend to become real flaky when you arc them out. it usally blows the main fuse. i would check it just to see if its good or not. if its bad you have to unbolt it, it won't just pull out.

Are you perhaps saying that the main fuse could be the cause of all my distress, or just a cause for some of the trouble I've listed? I'll check it out first thing in the morning though. Thanks

Also the radio was working fine and it just stopped working too, and the battery and brake lights will come on every so often. Somebody said something about the car's computer going out as they had similar problems and that was the cause, but they had a much older eclipse.
