I have a 99 gsx. I have been away from dsm knowledge for about 5 years. I was all ready to go the eculink route until reading the 99 ecu is flashable. I also have a 95 eprom ecu somewhere.

Anyway i am looking for some advice on which way to go from users of both. I know there is a huge community for link. I used to do my tuning on ecuplus in my old gst.

Is the ceddy mod ecuflash but in a package? I have heard the technology in the flashable ecus is faster.

I plan to eventually go e85 or methanol injection on a holset 35 or 40.

Thanks guys

IMO E85 go flash. Pump go dsmlink. I'm on a chipped eprom with high boost on E85. The only thing I monitor is my A/F ratio. Not sure if I would be able to get away with that on pump.

Just curious why you're suggesting a tuning solution based on fuel choice. The choice has nothing to do with the fuel you're using. I've run three different fuels in my car and link has handled them all.

I'm a fan of link because of how user friendly it is and the large community that's willing to provide support. I've only used ECU Flash once (a few years ago) and it didn't seem as nice or easy to use. But then again, I already had built up a good knowledge of link, so it's probably not a fair comparison.

Agreed , The flex fuel sensor for link is awesome , I don't have it yet but plan on getting it soon

I went with link in my 99gsx because it was user friendly as well.

I run the flex fuel sensor on Link in my car and love it, no switch to flip no need to worry about the tune between fuels. Im a one and done kinda guy and this is the perfect solution for anyone who wants to run dual fuels / anyone running E85 who wants to prime the system with a good flush every few tanks.

I too love the support Link offers on its private forum and even here. I have never ran ECU Flash so I cant speak about it. I did run an ECU Plus years ago and I can honestly say that the support offered there was great for a one man show but didn't hold a candle to Links support. I wouldn't have thought it mattered that much but for me it was worth every penny spent for the added support and user friendly perks of Link.

The reason I say that is because E85 is a safer fuel where you don't have to worry about knock. On pump it's smarter to tune with link where you can monitor everything closely especially on high boost. Knowing my tune is already preset chipped in the ECU based on mods and boost level, the only thing I monitor is my wideband. I've never recorded a single log.

Having used both, and developed flash style reverse engineering on another platform, I have to say Link is just great for the normal guy. The flash HAS the capacity to do cool stuff, but it is limited by those who contribute opensource work in development. I use link because I don't have the time or desire to add fun things like rotational idle and true als on the flash ecu.

I think there is a lot more people that use link on here compared to ecu flash. I use ecu flash but I have a local Evo tuner that does it for me. I'm pretty sure after you get the hang of it and understand ecu flash is just as capable as link
How much they charge to flash your ecu? And whole process? Did you have to get on dyno?
