I am new to using ECU flash but not new to flashing I have worked in both GM and Toyota dealerships and have flashed with both the GM TECH II and Toyota techstream factory tools So I have a done plenty of flashes just that stuff is more user friendly. I have just installed a 3g Eclipse Ecu into my N/T laser with plans to flash an Evo ROM to do a turbo conversion. I Built an adapter plugged everything in, had a battery charger hooked to my car and had my laptop plugged into the wall also. I was able to log with evoscan with no problem it connected and I did a sweep if the TPS, batt voltage read 13.5V with the key on. So next I read the ROM from the eclipse Ecu again everything worked perfectly. After this I did a test write of Tephra V7 and that worked fine also, Finally I went to flash got to 38% heard some relays click a few times got a few error codes and flashing stopped. I tried to re start ECU flash while leaving the key on to try to keep from bricking the ecu, the relays clicked a few times and it didn't do anything that ECU is now bricked. I pulled my adapter out checked continuity on the power, ground, and DLC pins that was all ok. only problem I found was the VSS signal wire had a stray wire strand that touched the ground wire to the ECU next to it. I fixed that checked all the power and ground wires from the main harnass found no other problems. I got another 3g ecu from the junk yard. logged that one just fine. Tried to read it and nothing, tried to test write it and nothing. I have tried/checked everything I can think of. So far I have tried 2 non bricked ECUs a 2g and the 3g from the junkyard, adding the flash connector to my 95GSX parts car and reading/testwriting with that eliminating my lasers wiring and my jumper harnass as the problem, Re installing ECU flash. the only thing that changes anything is that if I jump 12V directly to the flash port to the ECU I can read the roms most of the time. For this reason I suspect the openport 2.0 cable that I got used has atleast a newly failed voltage regulator. which when I check voltage from the OP 2.0 cable right after the failed flash it was 4-8V now after 3 days of messing with everything its around only 1V I just don't understand why I can read but not write to any ECU. It says on the Evoscan website that jumping 12V directly to the flash port will allow you to flash with a failed regulator but that is the only place I have seen reference to that. other information i have seen says it needs to be 16V. my main concern is that if my cable is whats stopping me from flashing and I replace it will I burn up another one? also is it normal to have relays click on when flashing or is somthing wired incorrectly? If anyone has any ideas or experience with this swap and can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks

Are You so sure about that

Not a English major myself by any means. But, try to work on your sentence structure. A lot of people will see a wall of text like that and just move on to the next thread.

Im sure that it read and test wrote perfectly one time each, half way through the first flash my relay clicked a few times and everything stopped. I don't post much cause I know my english skills suck. When I posted I had been beating my head against the wall for a few days trying to figure it out and all my frustration didn't help make it any better.

Question is why are you trying to Flash a EVO Rom to a Eclipse ECU ;)

Because Im cheap, They pop up once in a while @ the local pick a part and cost only $25. People with 3Gs use evo roms when they go turbo. For now I put the stock 95 ecu from my parts car in the laser so I can move it around. untill I get a new cable to try.

I guess I should be more specific about what I was saying

Either way so should you... Exactly what ecu do you have? An what Rom are you trying to flash?

I was trying to flash Tephramod 96530706.

This is the case to my 02 5spd eclipse ecu.
