Attempted to read my 2G ECU this morning using Tractrix Openport 2.0, EcuFlash 1.44, and EasyObdII. Both connectors are installed, including cable between them. OS is Win7 64 Pro on a Dell laptop and both programs run following what looked like a successful driver installation.
EasyObdII 2.4.8 will not find the ECU. EcuFlash will run a read sequence but will not recognize the results selecting either the Gen2 '96+ or generic definitions. (Car and original ECU are '98.) This suggests that the drivers are correct but the definitions are not identifying properly.
Previously VCDS (Ross-Tech) ran successfully in Win XP on another laptop using a generic OBD-II connector to USB cable, but now nothing appears to synch. That cable will not function in Win 7 with VCDS anymore.
I've never used Tractrix Openport 2.0 or either EcuFlash or EasyObdII, and since neither of the two programs operate, I must be missing something. Any ideas? I'm only trying to read error codes before servicing, and eventually convert to speed density.
