I searched around and also looked through the ceddy thread for answers but I'm still a little confused. I ordered a 2.0 cable, installed ecu flash on my notebook. Now I'm just waiting on a black case ecu that I should be buyin of a guy on the forum.
I'm just curious about the 2.5mm jack wire. My car is a 98, do I need the wire or not? The way I understand it is that only the 95-97s need the wire added and that 98-99 are plug and play through only the obd2 diagnostic port. Is this right?
If anyone can clear this up for me, I'd really appreciate it. I can always just try it when my ecu gets here, but I'd like to know sooner if possible.
Thanks,
shawn

The 98 and 99s have a flash plug already on the car, behind the obdII port. I think its a red wired that runs to pin 78 on the ecu. I'm sure you already knew all of that, but the 2.0 comes with a white flash connector that plugs right in.

Correct your 2.0 should come with the white flash connector. If not you can make your own. Check the "first flashed dam ecu" thread. That should have the info you are looking for. The ceddy mod thread is more fore the mode to the Rom not flashing the ecu.

thanks for the help guys. I'll crawl under the dash and check for that red wire. Would make things far easier than having to place a pin in the connector. Can't wait to finally try this system out.

you don't even need to do any digging under your dash... just look at your OBD2 port if you see a white connector next to it then your GTG. your looking for this...

Thanks! seriously, pic helps alot. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that connector when I was pluggin in my obd2 scanner. I was like wtf is that for?:hmm:
Thanks again man. :thumb:
