Calling auto dsms using link,ceddymods,evoscan.

How much control(if any) can you select for the auto trans? Launch control, and ign cut,etc is not my question.

My question is,Is there any control over the shifting of the trans, full line pressure,TCL(2g) etc?

The 2g flashable ecu is also stock in auto cars,as well as evoscan looks to work on evo 7,evox.

So how much if any control of the trans can you do in these programs?
IT does allow now for trans temp to be logged or displayed,as well as gear.

I'm kinda expecting " thats a no go,ghost rider".." Not an option,etc"

Please leave smartass comments to whats wrong with you,or why would this cross your mind.
Please do not give me too much crap.I cant be the first person to think of auto trans control,Where you dont have to have an external means of controlling the trans.

Thank you for looking, Thank you in advance for any and all answers:thumb:

The 2G DSMs use a separate TCU, so there's no way to control anything with link/ecuflash, unfortunately.

The 3G eclipse/02-06 Lancer has ecu-based A/T control (only the A/T ecus, of course, LOL) though, but it's definitely never been done before.

Actually, that's not correct knochgoon. As broke mentioned 3Gs and Auto lancers came with an ECU that controlled the transmission as well, and there ARE roms out there for autos with stuff like adjustable shift-points and linepressure. My account has been deactivated due to inactivity over on forum.dsmecu.com where all the info is, or else I had actually planned to get that working. Me and RTS91TSI were discussing it at length, and once he's finished with what he wants to do with the 1G TCU code we were going to work out a ROM that allowed full adjustability of the transmission as well as all the features a flashable ECU offers. I'm actually going to still do this by myself but it'll take awhile to research, and mod what I need to in the ROM itself. But there IS options, if you're willing to roll up your sleeves and be a little innovative. :)

I'm nearly certain that the A/T rom & ecu combo could run the DSM solenoids. It would depend on how the solenoids work, and their frequencies, but the wiring would be pretty simple if you sat down to plan it out.

I use an M/T rom on an A/T ecu for just that reason. I'm aiming to give it a try one day :).

Did you hit him up?
I've got nothing to share, really. Just a few thoughts. Ray was looking at the solenoids, but I haven't seen him around in a bit.

I made a patch harness for the A/T ecu so it plugs into the 1G (colt turbo) harness, and then just doubled the M/T rom on the ecu to take up space. It works great, and when I decide to try the A/T stuff, I can reflash with the proper rom instead of rebuilding my patch harness :).

Yeah and idk, seems he doesn't want me there for some reason? Maybe because he got deleted off my FB by accident?

And yeah, you and I talked about it briefly quite a few months ago. I was asking what you did to pad the M/T ROM for the A/T ECU and stuff. Your write-ups over there are awesome info for swapping an Evo/Lancer/3G/Hyundai/etc ECU into a 1G.

Jon holds grudges over stupid things. That's just how he seems to roll.

Anywho, this is an interesting question posed by the OP. However, I believe the wiring harness is different between the AT/MT cars, so I don't know how something like link would be able to control the AT trans without a wiring swap. And that would seem like a lot of work in comparison to just getting a chip from dave, or a fourced four box.

The clips are different yes, so you would need the harness side clips but the good news any 3G/base lancer/Hyundai/etc car would have the plugs you'd need. It's more work at first yes, but honestly it wouldn't take much once the initial work is done, the only thing you'd need is the ECU, do a bit of wiring like you would with the forced four box, and reflash it with a $25 eBay cable. Total cost would be under $100 for something with the power of a ForcedFour box, and an Evo ECU in one.

1g and 2g is seperate i put stuff like TCL and 2g in these () You think i have no idea? I know this allready 1g and 2g use seperate computer but the obd port does have a trans port too.

So this would be a case of using an evo 7 ecu and evoscan,Seeee mannn I know exactly what im doing LOL
Now see why i ask if any auto people using evoscan can come give us the damm answer please?

But +1 for a challenge
There is info out there on the EPROM images in the 1g tcu. Either a chip burner, or emulator can tune the tcu.

Again..I allready know this, maybe as an auto dsmer I want to know so evoscan autos hook me up with a conversastion please?

No control of the trans with any DSM or compatible Evo ECU.

But some TCU's can be reprogrammed with a chip burner.

I know about the eprom tcus,bra..Right I did,but technology has changed and become cheap. So help me out instead of kinda insulting me with things that couldnt have been done then..;)

The shift solenoids are controlled with a simple 12v on/off. I have a 2 pole, 4 position, rotary dial in my car that I use as a shift box from time to time. Each pole controls a solenoid and each position is a gear.

The line pressure is PWM 12v. It actually bleeds off pressure. So a lower duty cycles means a higher shift pressure. That's why the blue wire mod works the way it does.

The torque converter lockup is also a 12v on/off. But you have to be careful. Some DSM's used a 3ohm and other used a 13ohm solenoid for this. Using a 3ohm solenoid with a TCU designed for a 13ohm one will burn the chip right off the motherboard. I did it 3 times before measuring the resistance of the solenoid and realizing that my car had the wrong solenoid installed when the transmission was rebuilt by the PO.

Yeah, the hardware side I'm well aware of. It works great, but I want something different. Just plugging in an ECU and adding a couple extra wires to the TCU side of the harness, and having full engine and transmission control is what I'm after. Similar to what AEM EMS can do but for 1/8th the cost.

There's a few 02-05 Lancer A/T roms out there that include most of Tephra's mods, as well as many of the shift maps. They're not well-defined, but they're at least outlined in the rom.

If the DSM and Mitsu solenoids are a direct swap, don't see why you couldn't throw in the later stuff and wire it up to the ECU. I've got all the pinouts for that.

Same one Ive used for years,And i wrote the how to on that as well BTW ;).I still love it,dont get me wrong.

I want sumthing new, something different. If I have to take this on alone i will.I'll probably fail horribly..So this is why I need a few more braiiinnnssss.LOL

The cost is going to be higher obviously for me.Who wants trans control within your tuning device.
Vs any of the mods that are currently on the market, or in our tech section.

I was plannning on( before this idea came to mind the other night) was planning on saying F it.And just go with the roadsurge or forced 4..But then I would be like everybody else,Who just thought inside the box.

My replies to "shift box options" will not change.I still love the options available.

Main reason I've not PMed you Bud, is I've not had time to dive headfirst into anything yet. Still working issues out with work and the car. Soon as I do I'll give you a holler. It sounds like you've come to the same conclusion I have. I would've had this done a year ago, but Culinary School and selling the DSM put the brakes on that.

Yaa I know its out there, even for me.

I know how to work 1g and 2g solenoids for up and down shifting..So where your stuck at in:confused:
That info is easily accessable.

Now the harness idea, doesnt sound fun, but is very interesting..I wish the writups you guys talked about i could acess.Or sumone could post.
