Tint sunroof

Based on heat and energy transfer, my theory is that the reason why sunroofs crack is because tint reflects heat back on the sunroof causing it to heat up even more. The factory glass that is tinted from the factory, probably does not reflect heat, just darkens the glass, which is why they don't crack.

Since your car is black, If you paint the outside of your sunroof black, I don't see how you could damage it.

If you use night shades, (I called it tail light lens spray :p ), it shouldn't heat up the sunroof like the tint, since it darkens the glass like factory tint, with little or no heat/light reflectivity.

Your sunroof is not a stock one it is aftermarket. I think you might be SOL on trying to tint your sunroof. My Xterra had the same type of class. I guess Nissan uses that type for their sunroofs. As far as a sunroof cracking after tint, I don't believe it. I have a 92 and I had the sunroof tinted(meaning I had more tint put on) since 93 with no cracks.

why the hell dont you just close the shade instead of tinting   if you dont care if you can see through it, and are worried about glare, doesnt that seem like a more logical solution?

the glass isn't ugly and you have to get real close to see any difference from normal glass. i would close the shade but there isn't one there. i think i woulda though of that by now
