Based on heat and energy transfer, my theory is that the reason why sunroofs crack is because tint reflects heat back on the sunroof causing it to heat up even more. The factory glass that is tinted from the factory, probably does not reflect heat, just darkens the glass, which is why they don't crack.
Since your car is black, If you paint the outside of your sunroof black, I don't see how you could damage it.
If you use night shades, (I called it tail light lens spray
), it shouldn't heat up the sunroof like the tint, since it darkens the glass like factory tint, with little or no heat/light reflectivity.
