Timming off Help?

My timming is off pretty bad. I have a little knock at idle, and no power when i try to drive it. My question is if i get the timming done, and new belt will that fix my problem. I also want to know if the timmimg is off does that mean i have a bent valve.

Timing off and noise sounds bad. I would re time it and do a leakdown test on it. By the way make sure that the timing tensioner pulley is set properly and the belt will never jump time.

You are more than likely going to have some bent valves causing loss of compression.. a head rebuild is probably gonna be necessary. Wont know for sure until you do a compression test. How did it get off? While driving? After a timing belt change?

I would just go ahead and pull the head. Get it machined or get a replacement (cheaper) and do a timing belt job with a new tensioner. When you pull the head you should be able to tell if you have any crown damage on your pistons. But do a leakdown test to be positive the haven't been penetrated.

Its not really a double thread, just informing whats wrong in both threads.

That probably means the last person to do your timing job did it wrong, causing the interference engine to interfere. Your best bet as stated is to pull the head, check to see if the pistons are ok and replace the bent valves.

Honestly its do-able even if youre new to working on cars, just take your time and clean the headgasket surfaces EXTREMELY well after your done.

How do you mean off badly? Post a pic. If they are truly off more than i think 4 teeth in either direction you would be bending valves, i just dont remember exactly.
