I could really use some information I am very frustrated. I have a 04 Mitsubishi lancer es, car is stock. I was driving down the road the car just shut down as if it lost power, check engine light came on, tried to crank car made a bicycle chain noise and would try to turn over but would not catch. Had the timing belt replaced (belt was worn and some of the teeth were chewed but it did not snap) crankshaft sensor, car tries to start will not catch. Did compression test results were above 70 in 3 cylinders 40 in the last. Tore apart the block lifters and pistons look good. Had another mechanic look at it said timing belt was an 8th of an inch off. Could that cause the low compression results? Could have trying to start it damaged the valves? Any information would be helpful as my car has been torn apart on jacks for 5 months now.
