I have the 93 eclipse gs 1.8l single overhead..

Is the timing mark for the crankshaft on the piece thats red? yellow? or behind the yellow mark where the purple arrow is pointing?


I thought the mark is the black circle...?


NEED PICTURE OF SOME SORT THAT SHOWS THE TIMING MARK; i cant find it for the life of me..
 
Eh that didnt help at all..

I found the knotch.. It was on the balancer pulley in the FAR back..

Glad you got it figured out, and yes, I agree a picture is needed. Just an FYI, this is the last post of that thread I linked to which sounds like it describes the same mark you discovered. Sorry you didn't find it helpful.

...I figured out yesterday afternoon that I was looking at what I will call the outer sprocket flange on the crank and low and behold it IS on the sprocket flange, the inside one (partially hidden until I rolled it while someone else looked from the top)...

Seeing as i'm a 2g kinda guy with the 4g63 :p


Ill help you guys out by taking pics of my DD .. honestly the notch is easy as hell to find, i was just trying to hurry shit up like a moron.. tomorrow ill take one for referance for every new 1g timing the 4g37 for first time =)
