I have a GS-T 6-bolt that is using my 7 bolt lower timing belt cover and crank pulley. Not knowing if this cover will read timing correctly, yes I checked the archives, since its off a 7-bolt we took my car to the dyno and tried to set up the timing using a light and adjusting the CAS prior to doing any runs. We set the the timing to +9 degrees from BTDC outside the car using the cover as a reference with the crank pulley. However in the car via the pocket logger it reads 15 degrees at idle and not +9 degrees as indicated outside the car at the crank pulley.
My question is which one do I follow? We tuned the car and were able to get great numbers once we adjusted the AFC to get the mixture right and the wideband where we wanted it. The reason I am brining up my timing issue is that I have a low throttle idle issue and I wanted to know if the timing that the pocket logger is showing at idle is affecting the idle and that I need to adjust my timing so that the pocket logger reads 9 degrees advance instead of 15 at idle. Any insight or help would be appreciated.
