I've put a post up about this before and I timed my car the way that everyone tells me to. For some reason i get it perfect and I start it drive and shut it off there becomes I lose spot next to the idler pulley
 
sounds like the tensioner pulley isn't tensioned well enough, that's what's happened to me
when you time it, turn the motor over by hand at least 5-6 times and see if it's kept tension before you pull the tensioner pin.
