Let me start off by saying sorry in advance as I might be re-posting this type of question! However I didn't find what I needed for an answer so I decided to post this for help!

To start off I have a stock 90Talon awd I recently snapped the timing belt! Buddy a mine told me that If i was able to turn the crankshaft without too much trouble I might be ok for replacing it!? I wasn't driving very fast 40km/Hr

Overall attempt also considering this is my first time attempt t trying to replace timing belt!
- 1st attempt: I had taken everything that needed to be taken off in order to get at Belt. Got the timing belt on best I could, think that the cams were off by a max of 1 Notch from being lined up! Tried starting it backfired instantly! Layed off cranking over INSTANTLY!
- 2nd attempt: I took the timing belt off because it didn't feel right and I didn't wanna risk doing more damage, read more into it and put a screwdriver into the back part of engine, lined up Oil Sprocket, Crankshaft & cams!
Went to go start and nothing happened! Engine just Turned over wouldn't start!
- 3rd attempt: took everything apart AGAIN:ohdamn:while taking everything apart I broke the auto tension-er Pin inside! guess pulling the allan keys out while its set in place isn't the smartest thing to do! So.....
This is where i have come to wondering, wether I should buy a new tension-er $118 or say Screw it considering I might have totally F'd up the Engine!!??? A professional or experienced opinion would be appreciated!

If you would be able to help me on this id appreciate it, if not would you if you can be able to direct me to someone who could give me some more specific detail on this issue of mine!

If the pin came out of the auto tensioner, just place it in a vise crank it down and re-pin with something else. Assuming it was a new tensioner. If it wasn't a new one, then yes replace.

I had a problem where the timing belt jumped timing drastically, and assume it was from being improperly tensioned. (some combo of under or over tensioned). I took it all apart, put it back together and once lined up and tensioned properly it's been fine ever since.

I searched through here and found a large number of helpfull posts and videos, and can honestly say I couldn't have gotten it right with out DSMTuners and the search feature...

Odds are, you have some bent valves. You should do a leakdown test as soon as you get the timing components on to verify you have compression. Removing the head and having some valves replaced is not the end of the world. It has happened to MANY people on this board including myself.

Let us know where you stand.
