Got my 16g and manifold from FP and FINALLY got my install kit. Woo!

I know it's "safe" to run the 16g on low boost until I get my fuel upgraded (couple months to come, probably March). Should I wait on the mani? I don't want to lean out

Not sure if it makes a big difference (the mani)

I had a friend that tried to do this on his TSi and all he did was run lean until he got all his fuel stuff upgraded. Not good at all to be running lean especially for a couple of months.

Edit: I can't remember what the set up was. But he went bigger and then him went lean happened.

You can go with the turbo and manifold and not lean out, just run ~10psi.

If these are your first mods I would wait. Your profiles blank so I'm guessing that you have no boost gage which should be your first mod

Um no, a wideband and some sort of logging device should be the first "mods."

To the OP:
Throw the manifold on now, it won't hurt a thing. Same with the 16g.

Um yeah, don't get me wrong those are good 2nd and 3rd mods but he's said he wants to keep low boost. How would he know if he's running low boost with out a Gauge? He wouldnt cause the stock gauge sucks and with a 16g I would deffinetly do it first cause of boost creep even though he's on a stock exhaust.

Op, hold off and fallow the upgrade path and you should be fine.

You should be ok but if was me I would get a boost controller and bigger injectors before so there's no worry about running out of fuel just in case.

Yea gotta agree with him^^^ Boost gauge has always been a first for me. But definitely a WB and logging tool next. The upgrade path he linked you to is solid. Follow it and you'll be golden:thumbup:

I pulled a valve exactly like that out of a 96 Civic DX a couple months ago.

I would wait on the 16g till u have the fuel mods and can run higher boost. The 16g is a little laggier than the stock turbo and on low boost your really not going to be reaping the benefits of the larger turbo, just increasing your lag.

I think I agree on waiting on the turbo install until you can really take advantage of it, unless you're that anxious to dive in and don't mind some compromise without much benefit.

Upgrading the fuel system will obviously open some doors for you, so see what you'd like to do there and when you're looking at injectors feel free to get in touch with us for some advice and to see what the best injectors might be for your setup. It will be a really fun car once you have all this new stuff installed!

I'm installing my Evo III 16g right now and I don't have any fuel mods yet. I'm just going to run it at wastegate pressure until I can get some fuel. (as long as it doesn't creep )

I do have ECMlink, wideband, and boost gauge though. And I am planning on getting fuel in the near future.

Nothing wrong with putting it in there but don't expect the car to perform much better until you get more supporting mods.
