how long do you think it would take to install a 14b, exhaust manifold, stock injectors, and a j pipe. because i just got my 93 tsi and i need to put all that stuff in

Well if you were closer id help but it took me about 6 hours 3 of that were spent getting tools i did not have but the second time it took me almost 2 hours to swap turbos. Just make sure to get PB blaster for the bolts and as long as you know how to remove the bolts without stripping them it wont take but a few hours.

Drain oil and coolant, Then from there remove turbo lines. Pray the manifold come off the turbo, and the manifold off the head. Hope nothing breaks. Past that, it's just slapping everything else on.

Injectors are a snap, jpipe can probably get thrown on before the turbo even goes in the car, and you can attach the turbo to the manifold and the lines down before everything goes on.

Just keep track of what can come off in a big heap, then attach the new stuff in the same manner and throw it on.

I'd say a few hours and you'll be set.

Are you experienced at all in this stuff? If not, maybe get a dsm buddy to give you a hand.

EDIT: Make sure you pick up another turbo bolt to replace the stud. Will make future removals 10000000 times easier.

theres no turbo on the car now so i dont have to worry bout taking the stuff off the car i just have to put the stuff on. im not really expeerienced but one of my friends are and hes going to help me

any chance you wanna help me do the same? ;) Im in morgantown, not sure how far that is from martinsburg

If the turbo is out of the car should not take you more than 1 hour. It takes me 10 minutes to change out my injectors and the mani and turbo go in together so hell it should take less than an hour.

Just a quick question that's somewhat off topic...Is the car a manual or automatic? If it's an auto and you're putting that stuff in, you'll need a manual ECU.

On Monday @ 10:00PM I got my very first DSM home to my parking lot. @ 11:00 PM I fixed the map sensor and realized the turbo wasn't spooling.

Tuesday @ 10:00AM I tried to spin the turbo, realized it was stuck. By 1:30PM I had "fixed" what was wrong with the turbo and was running down my driveway making all kinds of boost.

No book, no special tools, no new gaskets. Just tighten by feel (a 17mm bolt obviously should be torqued much more than those little 10mm's on the oil pan. Oops!), and making sure everything that was there when I started was there when I ended.

I've been working on cars for the last 4 years, and turbo 4 cylinders in particular for 2 years so I'm not super experienced by any means.

I say find a local guy with a book, and extra parts, buy a 6 pack, set aside a Saturday in case something goes horribly wrong and have at it.

*edit* oh yeah, make sure everything you've got to put in will work with everything you've got in there already :D

ok now i need help installing the turbo onto my 93 tsi. its a 14b i bought the car without a turbo, turbo mani, injectors, jpipe. can anyone help me with how to install everything? maybe some pics showing how to do it. the only thing i think i need help with is the turbo

Bolt the lines to the turbo. Bolt the turbo to the manifold. Bold the manifold and turbo to the head (you may have to remove the power steering pump if it isn't already dangling, since you can't reach the far right lower stud). Hook up the turbo lines. The bottom one goes to the oil pan, the top oil one goes to the left side of the head. There are 2 water lines that go to the water pipe and thermostat housing. Hook them up. Use new crush washers on all the banjo bolts.
As for the injectors, since the car doesn't have any, remove the fuel rail. There are three bolts on top, and two bolts on the left side connected to a fuel line. that should let it swing up enough to put all the injectors in. After you push all of them into the rail, push it back down into the head where the holes are. Hook everything back up, put the little injector clips on.
