Hey guys, I have a 92 tsi with 184,000 miles its running great actually, the only thing is its starting to smoke quite a bit at WOT thats it. At idle it doesnt smoke at all, i know its that time for a rebuild and im sure compression has gone down quite a bit too.

But trust me it still pulls hard no problem and runs really good. Im gettin ready to do my rebuild because its easier to do it before it blows up.

I definately want to make more power, its stock right now pushin 12psi, i wanted to go with the eagle rod and je piston combo on ebay for 700 bucks i didnt think that was bad at all, but im not going for big numbers, the most i wanna push is 20 to 25 daily driver, so i was thinkin bout just gettin oem pistons and keep the rods if good. Of course changin everything that comes with the rebuild bearings, rings, t belt, etc.. what do u guys think? thanx

I got the stock 1G rods. I just got them yesterday and i have them at the machine shop getting my block bored to them. So i am yet to try them. I paid like 140 for mine with rinns and wrist pins.

Just wondering how do you bore a block to rods?

To the OP.Relax take a minute and to the test i stated above.Im sure if you rebuild your engine then still have smoke at wot. you will wish you would have done these test.
To me it really sounds like bad turbo seals.

Well you don't bore a block to rods. He means he's boring his block over to match whatever his piston size is.
