Time for megasquirt

Megasquirt seems to be more popular in the 420a community than 4g63. Many people will tell you to just go with ECMLink, but there are quite a few option available to you depending on your goals and budget.
Megasquirt is a nice option with full timing/full control and some other nice features at a very good cost, just kind of rare that people run them on 1gs

I got it, and love it.
I have it setup as a full standalone, No more MPI relay, transistor pack, or sucidal ecu's.
But it is a huge learning curve.
Don't expect to buy a preassembled one and jsut plug it in and start driving away.
It is an amazing little unit though and is great if this is the type of tuning you were heading towards.
If you want full control of pretty much everything for a great price, then do it. If you just want to get your car driving again, get an OEM unit.

Imo, I say get an evo ecu. Easier to deal with than megasquirt, unless you are really good with tunning. At least with the evo, you will have a base map to start with, with megasquirt you got to do it from the ground up.

I believe an Evo ECU can only be used with 2G's..

I agree Megasquirt has great capabilities and offeres a lot for the price, but it does take some tuning know-how to get the car going.

I believe there are a few 1g guys that have created harnesses to use the evo8 ecu

I have a 1g and I've ran Megasquirt for 2 years on it. I have a friend who is an electrical engineer that helped me get mine set up and he also runs Megasquirt on his 1g. Setting up Megasquirt is not for the beginner. But, its an excellent stand alone computer.
