Time for head rebuild

Time to pull the head after only 8 miles on the rebuild, I made a few mistakes when I rebuilt. I used eBay parts and didn't get the head surfaced. The valve guide seals started leaking. I didn't have a job at the time so I couldn't afford it but now I do so time to do it right. It's getting a oem head gasket, arp head studs, 3 angle valve job, viton stem steals, my bronze valve guides, and thead surfaced.

What springs and retainers are you using? What cams? Ask for a 40 R.A. or better on the surface. Ask about having the valves back cut or swirl polished if you can.

I bought a ebay rebuild kit, i am using stock springs and retainers and cams, what do you mean ask for a 40 r.a what does that mean, the valves are SS swirl polished just need them to be cut

He means on the smoothness of the head surface, your machinist should know what it means.

Well what do I need for a fel-pro gasket?

you don't need the head perfectly smooth and you don't want it totally smooth for a fel-pro. Just take it to your guy and have him "Deck It" He'll make sure the head is within tolerance. should be about 60 bucks give or take.

I'm having to get a head rebuilt as well, i just bought a dsm and on the way home last night pulling out of a red light i shot a rocker off the intake cam and it ground into the back of the head, one of the lobes were warped badly, so that's what it was. fun stuff

Well a dsm buddy of mine ran a cometic gasket and kept blowing them said eff it and went with a feloro and lasted way longer should I just get a cometic and have the head surfaced to the 40 ra

Either gasket will suit you just fine

I'm about to do the same thing as my head gaskets gone out going to take a head off an engine tomorrow and just have that one machined while I still have my car a guy told me to get the mitsubishi head gasket but the autozone gasket set is it neccesary to get the mits head gasket when the autozone gasket sets going to come with the head gasket?
