yesterday it was fine. today, it won't open. what the heck?!?!? thought maybe the vacuum hose colapsed inside or something so i bought new hose. didn't work still. took off the boost controller and ran it straight from the turbo to the wastegate. STILL, won't open. dang it, i can't be running around town at 30psi and more. anyone have any ideas? it's pretty new and has a 1 bar spring. wondering if it's faulty or something. i dunno. any ideas?

scott

anyone know how to test it at least? sure i could give it some pressure but dunno how i'd know if it was open or not if i can't hear anything being vented like when the car is running. i dunno what else it could be though if the dang hose is going straight from the turbo to the wastegate and it's not working........uggggghhhh!!!!

oh yeah, can you hook up a manual boost controller on the top? mine is on the side. and the top is open. but in the diagram, it shows that you can hook it to the top but there's some kinda vent or something. wondering if i switched it to the top or something, if that'd make it work. but don't see why it's not working now though. hmmm........come on guys, help me out here.

Top is when running the EBC. You use both ports. MBC use only the side port. Did you buy the EWG new? It seems faulty if it's not opening at all when you hook up a vacuum line from the intake manifold directly to the EWG side port.

yep, brand new. just bought it back in may or so and the car's been down most of that time anyway. just went out and tried new hoses again. even tried putting it on top. even though of course it doesn't work. ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! always something ain't it?

anyway, if i took it apart, parts won't go flying from the spring pressure would it? would it be easy to get back together? what would i even look for to go bad?!?!? dang thing is welded onto my manifold too, so hope it's able to be taken apart while still on the manifold. damn, and i was gonna give my girlfriend a ride this weekend too cause she's never been in it. crap i hope i can fix it.

That sucks having it welded on there. Kinda difficult to test it with it on the car with a mitty vac. I don't see why a brand new EWG will not work. Make sure your line isn't plugged (blow through it to make sure) and/or use a different boost source and see whether anything changes. I have personally never tested an EWG (my Tial 35 works just fine) but it should be the same as testing for an IWG. ;)

okay this sucks. i e-mailed tial last night and got one back from them this morning. said i could send it into them and they'd ship it back to me the same day that they receive it and fix any parts under warranty. but dang it, i welded it on there myself and don't really have access to a welding machine at the moment and don't wanna "pay" someone else to get it back on there again. or even have to pay for the shipping and all to get it there. for a wastegate that's SUPPOSE to be the best, and almost new, i shouldn't be having this problem anyway!!! uggghhhh!!!! and i have to go outta town next weekend. so this timing really sucks!!!

oh yeah, and they said if i tried to take it apart, i could mess up the diaphram and that i'd need to use a press. so i can't even take it apart to look at it and see if something is messed up on the inside, and if i take the chance, then i'm guessing they wouldn't fix it under warranty.
