My throttle cable is sticking and sometimes it will go higher in rpm's without my foot on the pedal. I looked at the pedal assemble and where it connects to the cable. There is a floating plastic piece that doesn't seem to do anything. Then the cable that goes through the firewall may be grinding.
I was wondering if anyone could get a picture of their gas pedal and the cable so I can compare a good working one.

And I may also need a new throttle cable the one from the pedal to black box, but vendors only seem to sale non cruise control ones. I want to keep my cruise control.

Have you also checked your throttle body? As that can also get stuck not just your cable

When I movE it by hand it is stiff I have to crank it hard then it brakes free and then it is smooth until I let go of it completely and it's stiff again.

I can get you a picture later on, if you need the whole cruise cable setup I can make you a deal on mine I just removed it and it was working perfectly. Mostly sounds like the clip on the pedal is broken and not holding the cable as it should.

Took my throttle body all the way off and I have two bad seals that basically fell apart. I cleaned the entire thing it was really filthy. Turned it by hand and it doesn't feel sticky or stiff anymore. I pulled all the throttle linkage by hand and it is really smooth. I think it was sticking because of the bad seals and how dirty it was. Waiti for the seals to arrive before it goes back together.

I've had this same problem but in my case it was a melted portion of the throttle cable just causeing it to stick, so I just bought a new one to fix that problem, so just check make sure that's not the issue and if not the tb then its at the firewall/pedel.

Old post, but I am having a similar issue. Mine is extremely irregular though, and will happen randomly. It also only catches when I go to apply pressure to the gas pedal after my foot has been completely off the pedal. I noticed if I just press the pedal with a quick motion is "dislodges" and then all is fine again for a while. I will check for the plastic piece you all are taking about once I get home.
