Hey guys I'm new here, referred by my buddy Harold
I have a question about my throttle on my 97' eclipse GS-T, and that is
Last night it tightened up and the throttle stayed open a bit leaving my car idling at about 2k
I pushed the pedal and it brought it back
But now the pedal is Rock hard and won't do anything at all
If I twist the throttle under the hood it works fine, it's almost like the cable is caught up at the pedal, or somethin?
but I can't see any visual problems, at the pedal or in the black box with those little pulleys under the hood

If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it, I got the car two days ago
Just finally got it to stop over heating and now this! =(
thanks in advance

Hmmm. Sounds like it could be a problem with your cruise control box (the black box you mentioned with the pulleys) Allot of moving parts in there that could possibly be snagged or fouled in some way. I also have a 97 GST and decided to just get rid of it all, cleaned up the engine bay tremendously and made everything much more simple. It is really simple to do, i don't know how set you are on having cruise control on your car or not. But i like "driving" my car so i never used it.

All you need to do is get a non-cruise control cable for your car and swap it out with the one you currently have and remove all the other junk. Here is some links below on how to get her done if interested. Take care :thumb:

thanks bud that is definently something id be interested in, i dont much care for cruise control let alone usually use it that often, and id really really like to celan up the engine bay a bit and have easier access to critical parts and points..not to mention i dropped like 2 bolts last night from the battery terminal and they disappeared forever, along with an extension and 10mm socket =(

i do have the cover to that box off, however i cant see any problems?
the throttle cable runs in, around a pulley and back out, and the cable is just super tight, theres no play one way or the other, but there is no ball ends or anything that are even in it to get caught up, i follow the cable out and it reroutes into a little boot of some sort, then disappears down into the engine bay..
im honestly totally lost!

id really like to get the non cruise cable, but i just wanna get it fixed and driveable until i can do that atleast

You will need to narrow down the section of cable that is bad. Did you inspect the pedal area to ensure that nothing is stuck or in the way down there?

actually got this problem solved now im hoping, looks like the bad section is the middle piece of cable from the throttle body to the pulleys in that black box, hoping this new one will solve the issue when it comes in!
thanks for the help guys, ill leave this up just incase it doesnt fix it though

thanks bro, i just got her a few days ago, couldnt get it to stop overheating, finally fixed it and now this haha
