Throttle Body screws stripped!!!

Ok so I have to replace my biss screw o-ring. When I was attempting to pull of my throttle body one of the screws was stripped every time i tried to twist it the screw would get a little worse. How can I get this thing out? or should i just take it to the dealership and let them fix it for a crap load of money I could use for something else?

You are going to have to drill the screws out. The BEST way to get those screws out is using an impact driver like I did. You can still give it a shot now, but by stripped them further and further you may have dug yourself into a hole.

Which screw did you fubar? If it's your BISS screw you can just drill it out with an EZOUT. Same goes for any of your other TB screws.

I just had the same problem. The head of the plastic biss stripped. I fixed it by hooking up my boost leak tester. Pumped it to about 20psi. Took a small sharp knife and hammered it into the screw. Between the pressure and the knife edge it came out pretty easily!

Why were you pulling the throttlebody off to replace BISS scre in the first place?

I was going to replace the o-ring, not the screw. And I have idle problems so I figured Id take it out and clean the TB to see if it affects my idle problems.

But anyway I decided to just replace the o-ring without cleaning the TB, when I pulled the screw out the bottom was black and I noticed when I would give the screw a little pressure when turning it I would hear air escape is this normal??

If new o-ring is installed, then no, you should have any air escaping. However, sre you sure what you hear is air actually escaping, rather then just passing through an idle port?

I'm confused, did you strip the TB to intake manifold bolts or the BISS screw itself? I don't see how the BISS can be stripped.

let s say u finally took out the bolt, but now the thread of where that screw goes inside the throttle body is stripped
what do u do? loc tite it?

Heli-coil it.

Tap it for a larger thread, screw a helicoil in there, and then screw the bolt into the helicoil

I still don't understand how the BISS screw could be stripped, are you guys assuming it's stripped because it just spins right before it comes out?

Yes, at that point, the BISS screw is longer threaded into the TB and is basically held in by the o-ring. I use a needle nose plier on the screw head cross mark, spread out the plier tips and pull the screw right out. Hope I made it clear .

Heli-coil it.

Tap it for a larger thread, screw a helicoil in there, and then screw the bolt into the helicoil
