2G Throttle Body Bypass Plate Question.

Was attempting to do the free FIAV bypass mod, and when I was trying to screw the valve down, it pretty much cracked the valve open. I am assuming that valve was already extremely weak.

I just went ahead and purchased a bypass plate.

Question: Can I remove the valve and spring completely from inside the FIAV location, then just block it completely with the bypass plate?

Your only problem will be your iac! You kinda need that unless your able to tune without. Other than that you can use the block of plate and just loop your coolant lines together. Or block them off completely. You have ecmlink? If your using the full fiav block off plate you will be taking the whole assembly off and just using the plate.

I have my fiav deleted and I suffer no ill effects. I have a 90 and they dont make a plate for mine but its screwed all the way in and I cut the coolant lines off flush and used jbweld to close them. I have no trouble starting it in the cold. You should be fine using the plates. If anything you will only have to press the gas pedal down for a little when its cold out to keep it idleing but only for a minute or two.

I also run the free fiav delete on all my cars and have for years. But I still have the iac intact. If you use a full delete plate you will loose the iac, that's all I meant just might want to think about it. You may want to look into replacing the assembly and fix it right. I may have extra if you need.

Yes deffinetly keep the isc or you will suffer idle problems

I have never had an issue with fiav. Why do people do this? I see zero benefit.

To get the coolant away from the throttle body and eliminate a potential boost leak!

Mine was already deleted when I bought my car so I just kept it that way as there was no side effects. Plus it gets ride of 2 hoses the could potential leak antifreeze. The less lines that can leak and cause problems the better.

Ok guys, thanks for replys but no one answered the question.

1. I have bypass plate, not block off. Isc will still be intact.
2. Can I remove fiav plate, and spring from its location, then block it off with plate?

Dont see why not since your using a plate. You could even remove it and fill it in with jbweld or weld it shut.
