Thinking of buying a extrude honed manifold

Hi i need a intake manifold but cant seem to find any used sheat metal ones but i did find a extrude honed used for sale in more of my price range and it said to work almost as good as a sheat metal one so i wanted to make sure first if this is ture. Im trying to get 500 hp or no less then 400 out of my car and i bought some 272 web cams and now need the intake and i sould be able to get close to 500hp on e85 as long as this intake works better then my stock 1g i should be all good.

Get the JMF sheet metal IM. There are plenty floating around in the classifieds. The only non SMIM I know of is the Hawver one, and is more expensive.

Extrude honing is just a way of porting everything inside the manifold. They basically push play-dough with an abrasive through the manifold. This will open up the runners and plenum and at that point it may have a gain in flow. The basic design is still the same though, long runners, not so big plenum.

SMIM have shorter runners and larger plenums. Shorter runners and a bigger plenum help flow and help to push the torque band higher up, which in turn, gives you more horsepower. This is the real gains you will find in a SMIM.

You can probably make 500hp on a stock manifold with enough boost, I doubt you will be the first to do so. See what you can make on the stock manifold. It will make your life easier if you hold out for a SMIM.

I bought a hawver intake, i love it, but i am looking to get a larger turbo and cams when i get back from Iraq. you might think about looking at one, don't have to worry about blowing welds

I say go for a smim over a extrude honed manifold. Keep an eye on the classifieds, I see them for sale used all the time.

The manifold looks ok but for 400 you could find a used jmf manifold.

Only found 1 used JMF on dsmsource waiting the guys email but other then that i cant find any used ones on here or ebay well theres 1 used one on ebay a new 0 feedback seller i think its a scam though.

is there any other sites that has good dsm clasifieds? the one here isnt allowing new posts
